First introduced to Heid’s on my first visit to Syracuse in 1975. Always stop in for at least two, everytime I pass through the area. Time has almost stopped for Heid’s of Liverpool, don’t ever remodel.

Great little stop for dinner on our thanksgiving trip from RI to Detroit. From two vey different hotdog lovers, one Coney Island boy and a red dog souther girl, we both agree this was a great experience. Thanks to places like is who have a story in history to tell and still share.

Decades ago, a date night fave: a Heid’s coney with their own luscious mustard and a chocolate milk! No one anywhere can match the taste, texture and aroma of that Heid’s meal. It’s ever my “go-to” place whenever I’m in CNY!
Grew up on Oneida Lake in Brewerton.. Dad was director of sales at the Sheraton and both folks natives of CNY.. there is NOTHING like a Heid’s coney… I ended up going to Northeastern University in Boston and while taking the train into South Station I saw a booth restaurant … and it was HEIDS!!! I was estatic, friends around me thought I’d lost it.. It was very good but not the same, but closest I’d had. The problem was there was no story for people to read, no one knew what it was, though it was just ‘another hot dog stand’ – was sorry to see it go!!!! Will always make Heid’s part of my trips back and I’ve been to a lot of places.. nothing comes close after all these years!

I love Heid’s coney. Every time our family came to Baldwinsville to visit my uncle and family, we’d make a trip to Heids. My dad would get the hotdog and the rest of us would get coney’s. I can taste them as I type. I haven’t had one in over 30 years. Do you sell the coney’s, mustard, and rolls on-line?

I grew up in Chittenango and Fulton and left in 1980 to join the Air Force. Came for a visit in ’09 for class reunion and Heid’s was the first place I wanted to go. It’s still the same as it was in the 60s-awesome! I live in Georgia and they have no idea what a real hotdog or coney is. See you soon!

Heid’s Hot Dog is there any others. 4 generations of the Hosmer Family have eating Heids Hot Dogs for years. I live in Cocoa Beach and have been here for 30 years but still get up Liverpool, NY to Heid’s Hot Dogs every summer. Sad to say that Heid’s openned Hot Dog Stand in Orlando, Florida. on RT436, Semeron Blvd. some years back, sometime in the early 1990′s after several years it closed. But the good news is Heid’s ships delilous Hot Dog’s and that tasty Mustard right to your front door. Now if we could only get some Byrne Dairy chocolate milk. Thankyou Heid’s.
Evertime I come back to Syracuse I have to have a Heides Coney. Can’t wait until we come back. Yes, I thought there were real submarines in Onondaga Lake. Couldn’t understand why everybody was laughing at me. Finally got it when I was married years later, Duh! However, I did get a Coney before we use to go home.
I visited your website and found it very interesting information. I want to wish your guests a pleasant stay, and invite them to share their experience by adding photos and comments on trivago.

I discovered Heid’s sometime between 1962 and 1967 while I was a graduate student at Syracuse University. I then moved to Cleveland and my parents lived near Boston. In subsequent years, I made inumerable road trips to Boston and always made it a point to stop at Heid’s for red hots with mustard. I would get four of them and root beer. I totally stuffed myself because I wouldn’t be able to get them until my next road trip. That continued until about fifteen years ago when I became vegan. I’m delighted to know you are still there. I keep a red plastic beverage cup with your name on it as a cherished memento.

My Grandmother lived in Liverpool and whenever we would go to visit her she would take us to Heids. Now that I’m 42 I am fully hooked on the coneys. I recently moved to GA and no one here understands. All the hot dog places down here boil them and they think a coney is a hot dog with cucumbers and pickles on it. You can’t even get New England rolls down here. When I get back up there for the holidays I will be visiting Heids and bringing back a few pounds of Coneys.

Best coney’s in the world. I grew up w/ Heid’s for 35 yrs. and boy, you don’t know what your missin till you move away and you can’t find any dogs like theirs. It’s not only that certain taste and aroma , but the nostalgia and the people you make as friends , like every time I went there. Lots of Love

I did Canadian Air Force exchange duty at Hancock field ’79-83, and lived near Sweet Heart corners in Liverpool. Friday nights another Canuck and I would always go done to Heid’s for a dog and chocolate milk…it became a bit of a tradition for others visiting from Canada too. I still have my Heid’s drink cup and cloth ‘painters’ hat. That was 32 years ago and I just recently found that other Canuck, retired in British Columbia, and the first thing we talked about was how good those hot dogs were.
Thanks for the memories.

Just wanted to tell you that I visited Heid’s for the first time this
past week. My mother is elderly and has a hard time traveling.
However, she and I flew from North Carolina to Syracuse for a funeral.
My mother lived in Liverpool as a teenager and the last time she
visited the area was 30 years ago. One of the days we were in town she
wanted me to take her to Heid’s for lunch…I have to say, that for
all the money we spent in plane tickets, hotel, and car rental doesn’t
compare to the expression on my mother’s face when she ate that Coney
with mustard. She may never travel again, but that one hotdog was well
worth the trip. Thanks so much!!! GREAT FOOD!!!

I lived in Syracuse for many years, but now live in sunny Florida. Whenever I get up to visit, my first stop off the plane is Heid’s. My mouth starts watering as soon as I get my bag…can’t wait for a coney and a dog. Then mustard tops everything. I make my visits and hit Heid’s as many times as I can. Of course I try to tell people about the wonder, but it needs to be experienced!!

I’m born and raised in Big Rock, IL, but my dads family hails from the Phoenix area. All of my midwest friends simply do not understand how good a double white hot on a single bun with a slab of mustard is. Vienna Beef hot dogs, to me, are failed brats. I look forward to my next family road trip east to the hallowed halls of Heid’s.

As students at SUNY-Oswego in the mid 60′s, we were both frequent guests. In the early 80′s we headed to Florida from California. Took the Northern route so we could expose our kids to a coney. Coming in for a college reunion, our first stop will be Heid’s. See you soon. Our mouths are already watering.
As a young disc jockey at the old WOLF in the early 70′s ..and later with 62/WHEN..HEID’S kept me going. The best double white hot with brown mustard! Want one now!!

Miss Heid’s a lot. Now I live in Allentown, PA and the only hotdogs they have here are called Yoccos tasty but about 1/4 the size of a Heid’s and no one knows what a coney is. I’ll be up at the end of Apri; and you can be sure I will get my fix. By the way I canverted my wife, a PA native, to a true blue Heid’s fan.

Granparents lived in Scriba, As kids in the early 60′s when visiting Dad would always stop at Heids. Loved the Coneys and the snappy bite to them. No comparison anywhere else.

December 4th, 2011 at 8:42 pm

We live in Georgia now but lived in Syracuse area for many years. The thing I miss most is the Heid’s Coneys and the fried Haddock on Friday’s. If I could get those here I would be one happy camper.

Been a Heids fan for 62 years. Now live in CA. Just went back for a HS reunion. Was there for five days; ate at Heids three of them! Best food, cleanest restaurant, immaculate restroom ! “Fancier” restaurants should use them as an example in all three areas.
July 19th, 2011 at 9:44 am
My son and I can’t wait to come to Upstate NY so we can go eat at Heid’s! It’s always our first and last stop with as many stops in between that we can squeeze in!
July 17th, 2011 at 5:29 am
My Grandmother lived in Liverpool and whenever we would go to visit her she would take us to Heids. Now that I’m 42 I am fully hooked on the coneys. I recently moved to GA and no one here understands. All the hot dog places down here boil them and they think a coney is a hot dog with cucumbers and pickles on it. You can’t even get New England rolls down here. When I get back up there for the holidays I will be visiting Heids and bringing back a few pounds of Coneys.
July 4th, 2011 at 9:08 am
My deep love of hot dogs led me to your restaurant’s website. I’m not sure if our families come from the same area, but I’m already planning a trip to get a hot dog. If only North Dakota was closer to upstate NY.
June 6th, 2011 at 12:55 pm
Best coney’s in the world. I grew up w/ Heid’s for 35 yrs. and boy, you don’t know what your missin till you move away and you can’t find any dogs like theirs. It’s not only that certain taste and aroma , but the nostalgia and the people you make as friends , like every time I went there. Lots of Love
June 5th, 2011 at 5:46 pm
Coming to visit in a couple f weeks I need my coney & Byrne Dairy Choc Milk Fix…
May 15th, 2011 at 2:56 pm

April 28th, 2011 at 2:05 am
I’m from Stockholm, Sweden and visited Heid’s on a beautiful day in March with friends. Great food and nice surroundings. Will return!! / Magnus

February 16th, 2011 at 8:49 pm

January 9th, 2011 at 9:31 pm
I live in Los Angeles and haven’t been to Heid’s in 30 years, but I’m bringing my family back east and can’t wait to introduce my 6 year old twins to a coney at Heid’s!

November 28th, 2010 at 5:09 pm
I have been loving Heid’s coneys and hot dogs since the 1940s. Moved to California, they do not know what a coney or REAL hot dog is… hot dogs here taste like bologna. Can I open a Heid’s in California?
November 21st, 2010 at 3:35 pm
Heid’s is the mecca of hot dogs. Beats Nathan’s or Varsity Hot Dogs.
November 20th, 2010 at 9:44 am
I have not lived in Syracuse for at least 20 years, but the Food Network just did a spot on Heids Hot Dogs on the show Man vs Food…brought back so many memories!! My mouth is watering for a Heids right now!! Do you mail order?? LOL!!
October 15th, 2010 at 3:42 pm
I lived in Syracuse for many years, but now live in sunny Florida. Whenever I get up to visit, my first stop off the plane is Heid’s. My mouth starts watering as soon as I get my bag…can’t wait for a coney and a dog. Then mustard tops everything. I make my visits and hit Heid’s as many times as I can. Of course I try to tell people about the wonder, but it needs to be experienced!!
October 12th, 2010 at 11:46 am
I always stop when I’m home from Texas. No “Texas Hots” better than Heid’s……and I worked there in 1969 while attending O.C.C.

oh man, sure wish i could get a bag of coneys and some chocolate milk. spent many times there between classes at OCC, or taking a date there after a nite at the movies, or just dropping in for a quick and inexpensive meal back in the day. No one in the south knows what or how to make a real coney.
September 13th, 2010 at 7:49 pm

June 27th, 2010 at 4:04 pm

Thanks for the memory!!!
June 16th, 2010 at 10:31 am
I grew up in Syracuse, and lived on Dove Path in Liverpool. I’m taking a road trip thru upstate and can’t wait to stop at Heids for lunch/dinner and to go to Hoffmans and grab a bag of dogs to take home with me, everytime my mom returns to Syracuse, or my aunt comes to visit, I get a care package from Heids!!! WHAT A TREAT!!

June 8th, 2010 at 11:59 pm
I’m born and raised in Big Rock, IL, but my dads family hails from the Phoenix area. All of my midwest friends simply do not understand how good a double white hot on a single bun with a slab of mustard is. Vienna Beef hot dogs, to me, are failed brats. I look forward to my next family road trip east to the hallowed halls of Heid’s.
June 3rd, 2010 at 9:11 am
As students at SUNY-Oswego in the mid 60′s, we were both frequent guests. In the early 80′s we headed to Florida from California. Took the Northern route so we could expose our kids to a coney. Coming in for a college reunion, our first stop will be Heid’s. See you soon. Our mouths are already watering.
May 30th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
As a young disc jockey at the old WOLF in the early 70′s ..and later with 62/WHEN..HEID’S kept me going. The best double white hot with brown mustard! Want one now!!
May 25th, 2010 at 5:02 pm
Graduated for Henninger in 65 and came back to Syracuse in 70 for a visit. I always tell people when you visit hit Heids for the best coney in the world. Coming back this year for a football game and already set up my first meal at Heids. I now live in Alaska and nothing to compare.
May 1st, 2010 at 8:11 pm
Boy I sure miss your hot dogs and coney’s. Live in LA now and can’t wait to get back to Liverpool to have one. You should ship them out of state. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!!!!
April 16th, 2010 at 9:28 pm
Born and raised in Syracuse, Heids was always a stop for a double coney and a chocolate milk. Now living in the “high desert” of California, I think back, remember and hope someday to return for another double coney!
March 29th, 2010 at 12:48 am
Miss Heid’s a lot. Now I live in Allentown, PA and the only hotdogs they have here are called Yoccos tasty but about 1/4 the size of a Heid’s and no one knows what a coney is. I’ll be up at the end of Apri; and you can be sure I will get my fix. By the way I canverted my wife, a PA native, to a true blue Heid’s fan.
March 6th, 2010 at 12:05 pm
Been coming there for years. My Dad was brought there when he was a kid. We were there the summer the sign burned. Thanks for keeping things going. Good memories. I always buy T-shirts!!
February 25th, 2010 at 2:31 pm

January 25th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
Everyone should try a Heids Hot Dog at least once in their lives! It’s something I look forward to anytime I visit!
January 4th, 2010 at 9:46 am
Thank you for visiting our site. We would like to inform you that we did return to our original recipe 13 years ago. If you ever find yourself in Liverpool, please stop by and have an original Heids hot dog. Just like you remember.

Had my first Heid’s back in the 80′s, loved it then, and can’t wait to have it again! Can’t find anything like it in Oklahoma.
December 24th, 2009 at 10:17 am
I ate at Heids for many years back in the 70′s and 80′s before moving out of town. Best hot dogs anywhere on the planet until they changed the recipe. Now that I live in Chicago, everytime I have a hot dog here, I wish it was an original Heids instead.
December 23rd, 2009 at 4:18 pm
